Britain's Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has told airlines to stop selling tickets for flights they cannot staff, after a series of flight cancellations left tourists struggling to get away on holiday.
Airlines including EasyJet and Tui were among those to make cancellations, although most customers will have been given advance notice.
Airports across Europe have struggled to cope with the rebound in demand following Covid lockdowns.
British airports are facing a particularly difficult week because of school holidays, combined with two extra days off for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Airlines UK, which represents the major British airlines, said the "vast majority" of flights would be operating as scheduled.
