Residents in London and royal commentators reacted on Friday to excerpts of Prince Harry’s memoir “Spare” in which he claimed to have killed 25 people in Afghanistan when serving as a military helicopter pilot, describing them as "chess pieces removed from the board."
“(It’s) a little bit sensationalist, to be honest, I think the damage is probably irreversible now, unfortunately and probably nothing like we've seen before,” said one Londoner.
Entrepreneur Robin Parker dismissed Harry’s revelation about his time in Afghanistan.
“I think he's an idiot. I mean, I think saying anything about the number of people who've killed. My father was in the Second World War, and I once asked him as a child if he killed anyone and he was very reluctant to say anything about it. And so I don't understand it. Someone said this morning he's put a target on his back. And I think that's probably about right,” he said.
Royal commentators Charles Rae said he was ''staggered by the machine gun revelations and accusations'' in Prince Harry's memoir, while Emily Andrews is saddened at the break down of Harry and his brother Prince William's relationship.
