The Supreme Court will hear next week a petition for the release of Kerala-based journalist Siddique Kappan. Chief Justice of India SA Bobde observed wrong reporting by the media in this case. The Uttar Pradesh government said Mr Kappan can approach the high court and has filed its affidavit. The Uttar Pradesh government said it has no objection for his lawyer to meet him. The top court asked the lawyer of Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) to read the UP affidavit and then argue the case.
