Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak says last weekend's attack by Hamas was the "most severe blow" Israel has suffered since the day of its establishment.

In a sit-down interview with Sky News' Mark Austin, he said Israel would not "deteriorate into the behaviour of Hamas" with its ground operation and is "committed to international law".
