Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry was rushed to safety as gunmen opened fire at an event celebrating the country’s independence.

Video shows the prime minister and his entourage scrambling for cover outside the event, which marked the 218th anniversary of Haiti’s independence.

Henry’s office blamed “bandits and terrorists” for the attack in a statement released on Monday.

Haitian media pointed to possible gang involvement in the attack, reporting that one person had been killed and two others injured. However, police have not confirmed those details.

Gang activity has increased in parts of Haiti following the death of former President Jovenel Moïse in July. Saturday’s attack, meanwhile, has renewed concerns about the safety of Haitian officials following his assassination.
