Government 'tough on strikes, but not on causes of strikes', says union

Daniel Kebede, general secretary of the National Education Union (NEU), has said the government moving to pass legislation to keep schools open on strike days is "really draconian".

Mr Kebede called on the government to "be tough on the causes of strikes rather than trying to remove the democratic right to take strike action if needed".
