Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis provided an update Saturday afternoon on Tropical Storm Elsa saying the southern part of the state could get hit as early as Monday.

Elsa is currently off the southern coast of Haiti and moving at a speed of km/h toward Florida.

DeSantis said the middle and lower parts of the Florida Keys are under Tropical Storm watches while states of emergencies were declared in the counties of Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Levy, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Pasco, Pinellas and Sarasota.

There are risks of isolated tornadoes, storm surges, heavy rainfall and flash flooding.

Hurricane Elsa fell back to tropical storm force as it raced toward Haiti and the Dominican Republic earlier on Saturday, but it still threatened to unleash flooding and landslides before taking aim at Cuba and Florida.
