The global total of COVID-19 cases has now increased to more than 100 million and the number of people dead from coronavirus-related complications has surpassed 2.1 million.
The US, Brazil and India have the world's highest number of pandemic deaths.
Poorer countries are struggling to secure enough vaccinations for themselves, even as richer countries scoop up most of the supplies.
But new coronavirus mutations are raising new concerns about the effectiveness of approved vaccines.
