With a week left in the federal election campaign, leaders are fanning out across the country in a final push for more votes. But as Abigail Bimman reports, former Liberal MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes is vowing to vote for a Conservative, causing grief for Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau on the campaign trail.

Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole announced new commitments to improve bereavement benefits for parents who lose a child. As David Akin reports, it's part of a broader effort to appeal to female voters.

In the United States, more than a dozen states continue to see a surge of COVID-19 cases, fuelled by the Delta variant and the significant number of Americans yet to be vaccinated. Now, U.S. President Joe Biden has announced new vaccine requirements that will affect millions. But as Jennifer Johnson reports, the move is already facing pushback, criticism and possible lawsuits from Republican opponents.

In Afghanistan, since seizing control of the country, the Taliban has attempted to present itself as respecting of women's rights. The militant group is now claiming it will allow women to attend university, with limitations. But as Mike Drolet explains, women who don't share the group's extreme views are still living in fear, as violence toward them persists.

Two decades after the 9/11 attacks, which claimed the lives of two dozen Canadians, terrorism continues to hit closer to home in Canada.
