We’re getting a clearer picture of what it could take to search a landfill for three missing Indigenous women. Police believe the women were murdered and their remains are buried somewhere in Stony Mountain, Man.'s Prairie Green landfill. A study examining the feasibility of the investigation says it could take years and cost $184 million. But the report warns that not conducting the search could cause considerable stress. The report was commissioned by an Indigenous-led committee after police said they would not search for the victims’ remains. Melissa Ridgen reports.

Despite light showers and a decrease in temperatures in parts of the province earlier in the week, Alberta’s wildfire situation remained volatile Friday as firefighters raced to contain the 81 active wildfires – 20 of which are considered out of control – across the province burning for the second week.
