U.S. President Joe Biden's defiant press conference at the close of the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., continued to garner strong reactions from Democrats on Friday. Even with Biden answering some tough questions on Thursday, his performance didn't quiet critics — and left his presidential candidacy in a state of peril, as his donors are slowly beginning to back out. Jackson Proskow reports.

In Nova Scotia, pounding rain and flash floods turned deadly. A youth from Wolfville, northwest of Halifax, was found dead after being swept away by raging floodwaters in the aftermath of hurricane Beryl, which has been battering eastern Canada this week. The storm destroyed roads and bridges, and left a community reeling. Zack Power has more.

Meanwhile in Toronto, a 17-year-old girl was sent to a trauma centre after falling from a ride at Canada’s Wonderland Thursday. Safety officials say the machine was in proper working order, and witnesses recounted the terrifying moment that it happened. The amusement park says an investigation into the incident is underway. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is reopening the debate over

supervised consumption sites, promising that he'll close some of them if elected prime minister — and pull federal funding to all of them. Poilievre made that promise in a Montreal park, across the street from a controversial new facility. Mike Armstrong has more.
