Security is being beefed up around Parliament Hill, as convoys of protestors from across Canada begin arriving in Ottawa, to demand an end to vaccine mandates and pandemic protocols. To the COVID-19 pandemic: although there are signs the Omicron wave has peaked, concerns are growing over its new subvariant BA.2 that's been detected in Canada. Abigail Bimman breaks down what's known so far about the new mutation and what health experts are watching out for.

In Europe, despite tensions over a potential Russian invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is urging allies not to cause panic by treating conflict as imminent.
