Germany's Chancellor has expressed alarm at the far-right's strong showing. Describing their success as concerning, Olaf Scholz added that Germany could not return to business as usual. His ruling coalition won just a third of all votes - while, the far-right Alternative for Germany swept past the parties in the coalition, to take second place behind the conservatives.
