Within hours of the conviction of a former US police officer for the murder of an African-American man a full federal investigation has been launched into policing practices in the city of Minneapolis.
The justice department will look at whether there has been a pattern of “unconstitutional or unlawful policing”.
It follows national outrage over the killing of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin. The former officer was convicted of all charges against him.
President Biden has described the conviction as “a giant step forward in the march toward justice in America”.
