As the G7 summit wraps up in Bavaria's Schloss Elmau in Germany on Tuesday, member countries are announcing new supports for Ukraine — including Canada.

Prime Minister Trudeau announced more than $350 million of financial support for Ukraine. Canada also plans to sanction individuals and import bans targeting Russia's attempts to sell gold on international markets.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a virtual appearance the day before, taking part in a closed-door discussion on topics ranging from war strategy to reconstruction, and calling for more support from G7 leaders for aid and military equipment.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz plans to make an official visit to Canada in August to discuss potential natural gas partnerships in place of dependence on Russian oil. David Akin reports.
