California Sen. Kamala Harris is poised to break barriers as the first woman, first Black American and first South-Asian American vice president. Ahead of Harris stepping into her position next month, PBS NewsHour's Yamiche Alcindor spoke to another barrier-breaking lawmaker, Carol Moseley Braun, who served as U.S. Senator to Illinois from 1993-1999. Among many other firsts, Braun was the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Senate.
