It may seem remarkable, but it was only this year that the first Black woman was elected to Germany's parliament. Her name is Awet Tesfaiesus, a lawyer from the city of Kassel. After a racist terror attack she nearly moved abroad - but instead, Tesfaiesus decided to stay and try to bring about change.
