A fire in New York City heavily damaged the 19th century Middle Collegiate Church in Manhattan's East Village neighbourhood on Saturday morning.
A six-alarm blaze had started in a vacant building and extended to the church.
New York City Fire Department (FDNY) assistant chief John Hodgens said the fire is under investigation.
FDNY reported four minor injuries among firefighters.
"The Church is not a building, but buildings matter. This is home," a representative of the Middle Church said on Twitter while thanking for support and encouraging those willing to help.
