The race continues for a coronavirus vaccine, but the highest hopes of currently treating infections are medicines that already exist and are approved for other diseases. It's called repurposing. It's called repurposing. It's important to know at what stage a treatment is most effective. Medicines helpful early on, when the infection is mild, or when there are no breathing problems, could be ineffective or harmful to a patient with severe pneumonia.
