Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole spent much of the 2021 federal election campaigning virtually from a studio in downtown Ottawa, which cost $1 million in party funds, sources tell Global News.
When asked about the price tag, O'Toole was unapologetic. "We knew that Justin Trudeau would use the pandemic for his political favour," he said. "The studio was a way that we could connect with hundreds of thousands of people, and we continued to use it to our party resources during the election."
Mike Le Couteur looks at the eyebrows being raised over that expense, what the Conservatives bought using taxpayer money, and the lingering questions about O'Toole's leadership.
