Climate minister Graham Stuart says he "does not expect" energy rationing to occur this winter.

His comments follow yesterday's warning by the National Grid that households could face three-hour planned blackouts in some rare circumstances.

Asked if the public should be using less energy, Mr Stuart said the government was "not sending that out as a message".

It has been reported that the prime minister Liz Truss has stopped a £15m public information campaign telling people how to use less energy.
