Edmonton stabbing: Police update after mother, child killed | LIVE

Local police are expected to provide an update after a violent incident in southeast Edmonton on Friday left a mother and child dead, according to authorities.

Police said just before 5 p.m. Friday it was reported that a man had attacked two people outside of Crawford Plains School before running away. Officers found a dead 35-year-old woman and an injured 11-year-old child, police said. The child was taken to the hospital but died of their injuries.

According to police, a man matching the description of the suspect was located by two other officers in the area of 46 Street and 12 Avenue.

Police said “an altercation took place” and the officers both shot the suspect, resulting in critical injuries.
