A planned series of protest marches against transgender ideology in schools held across Canada Wednesday were met with crowds affirming their support for transgender youth, as rhetoric and debate over sex education curriculum grows louder.

In Toronto, hundreds gathered north of Queen’s Park as part of the Million March 4 Children, chanting “leave our children alone,” while hundreds more gathered in opposition.

Opposing rallies were also held in Halifax, Ottawa, New Brunswick, and Vancouver.

“I’m here because I think it’s important for parents to have a say in what is being taught in school,” said one protester participating in the Million March 4 Children.

“If I had the kind of education that can be provided today when I was a kid, it would have saved a world of hurt, depression, anxiety – and we need to make sure we have that kid,” said a pro-trans counter-protester.
