At least 27 refugees and migrants bound for the United Kingdom have drowned in the English Channel near Calais, France after their boat sank.
The International Organization for Migration has called it 'the single largest loss of life' in those waters in 7 years.
France and the UK are trading blame for the incident, but leaders in both countries say they need to step up joint efforts to prevent the crossings.
