A rescue operation is under way in central Nigeria, where gunmen have kidnapped a group of at least 27 students from a secondary school in Niger state, according to officials.
One student was shot and killed in the attack on the state-run school in Kagara.
President Muhammadu Buhari is under pressure to resolve the growing number of kidnappings in the country and has condemned the attack which no group has yet claimed responsibility for.

Al Jazeera’s Ahmed Idris reports from Abuja, Nigeria.
