On Wednesday, Turkey rejected claims by Iraqi officials and state media that it had carried out an attack on a mountain resort in the northern Dohuk province, which killed at least eight tourists and injured over 25 on Tuesday.
Foreign minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu told state broadcaster TRT Haber that the Turkish military operations in Iraq have always been against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), saying the strike on Dohuk was also carried out by what he called terrorists.
As Iraqis mourned victims who were brought to Baghdad for funeral services, several dozen gathered in front of the Turkish embassy to protest the attack.
