3 अप्रैल 1973 को दुनिया में पहला मोबाइल फोन लॉन्च हुआ था. अमरीकी इंजीनियर मार्टिन कूपर ने पहली बार न्यू यॉर्क के 6 ऐवन्यू से पहली मोबाइल कॉल की थी. पहली मोबाईल फोन बनाने वाली कंपनी का नाम मोटोरोला था और इसका वजन 1.100 किलोग्राम तक था.
