On the election result, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, "BJP has opened an account in Kashmir Valley with the victory of Ejaz Hussain. We are leading in many more seats in the valley. It shows that the people of Kashmir Valley want development. ''The DDC election is being seen as a contest between the BJP and other political parties in the region. This is the first election in Jammu and Kashmir after the repeal of Article 370 in August last year.
