Polling is taking place in 34 seats in the fourth phase of the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Amid morning chill, the polling started at 7 am, well before the sunrise. Braving cold, people have come out in large numbers in the last three phases that have recorded around 50 per cent turnout. It's a high-stakes battle for the BJP and regional parties, under the banner of People's Alliance. While BJP has launched an aggressive campaign led by its senior leaders including union ministers, the local party leaders Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have not addressed even a single election rally.
