The ongoing fighting has inflamed long-running ethnic tensions in Darfur, and el-Geneina in West Darfur has seen some of the worst violence.
Many fleeing to neighbouring Chad say they are forced to lie, to avoid getting killed and pass through militia checkpoints.

Al Jazeera's Zein Basravi has more from Adre on the Chad-Sudan border.
