As strong winds battered the coast, thousands were evacuated from districts in India and Pakistan in anticipation of powerful Cyclone Biparjoy expected to make landfall on Thursday.
Roads will be flooded along parts of India's western state of Gujarat, crops could be damaged and some houses destroyed, the country's weather department said.
In Pakistan, 62,000 people were evacuated from high-risk areas in the districts of Suajawal, Thatta and Badin, according to the country's National Disaster Management Authority.
