The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday said it was urging caution after Denmark became the latest country to drop all if its COVID-19 restrictions that are aimed at helping to reduce the spread of infections.

WHO COVID-19 Technical Lead Maria Van Kerkhove said that in the last seven days more than 22 million COVID-19 cases, largely driven by the Omicron variant, have been reported, and that there’s been a “sharp increase in deaths” over the last four weeks around the world.

Van Kerkhove says the WHO recommends the use of tools such as masks, physical distancing, improving ventilation systems and testing.

Denmark has dropped all of their COVID-19 restrictions including an indoor mask mandate, the use of a "COVID Pass" for restaurants, bars etc. and self-isolation mandates.
