COVID-19: UK's R number drops sharply 'but cases remain high'

Official figures show the estimated coronavirus R number in the UK has dropped to between 0.8 and 1.0, which is down from 1.2-1.3.

The latest figures suggest that the lockdown is working. However some regions in the North East and South West of the UK are still seeing cases rise.
