A new study from the United Kingdom is adding to the evidence that mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines provides solid protection from the virus.

The study looked at those who received two doses of AstraZeneca or Pfizer-Biontech. They received boosters for one of seven vaccines, including the four approved in Canada. The effect was a boost of antibodies and T-cells against Alpha, Beta and Delta variants, equivalent to over 90 per cent protection against infection, even serious cases.

Could the method also work against the new Omicron variant? Eric Sorensen looks at the findings.
