Poorer nations are still struggling to fully immunize people against COVID-19, as they grapple with expensive vaccine patents and complex production.

According to the scientific publication Our World in Data, as of Jan. 14, nearly 78 per cent of Canada's entire population has already been fully vaccinated – yet in Nigeria, only 2.3 per cent of the African country's people are fully immunized.
