French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday that he stands by earlier comments he made that he wants to “piss off” the unvaccinated, saying that all people need to accept the duties “that come with citizenship."
Macron went on to say that the unvaccinated are “putting others’ lives in danger.”
The French president said it was necessary to implement a vaccine passport to protect those who are vaccinated, but have been infected with COVID-19 “because of the irresponsibility of some others.” He also said it is necessary to protect those would are susceptible to “unenlightened discourse”
France is reporting an average of 200,000 daily COVID-19 cases, a record high driven by the extremely infectious Omicron variant.
