A series of tweets by an Alberta doctor are attracting attention for sharing the heartbreaking experience that many are facing as the fourth wave of COVID-19 continues to ravage the province’s health-care system: telling a family their loved one is dying.

In one week, the province announced an additional 95 deaths in Alberta related to COVID-19.

In an effort to bring some humanity back to the staggering number of deaths in Alberta, Dr. Neeja Bakshi— who works in the internal medicine ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton— recounted sitting with a 75-year-old woman as she died.

"YOUR OXYGEN IS NOT GOOD. YOUR LUNGS ARE TIRING OUT. THERE IS NOTHING MORE WE CAN DO..... (and with a giant deep breath, I yell) ANNE. YOU'RE DYING." Bakshi wrote on Twitter.

As Kim Smith reports, other doctors are also sharing their experiences.
