Rebel military officers have seized power in Gabon. The coup happened minutes after President Ali Bongo was declared the winner of disputed elections.

The military have closed the borders to the Central African nation and cancelled the election results. All state institutions have also been dissolved. Bongo has confirmed he's under house arrest.

The African Union has convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation in Gabon.
