Could Canada follow in UK, New Zealand footsteps on phasing out smoking?

As the U.K. looks to join New Zealand in phasing out cigarette smoking among young populations by raising the legal age on a yearly basis, questions are being raised about whether Canada could follow suit.

Advocates say it's not just age restrictions that should be looked at, nicotine levels should also be tackled. Meanwhile, those in the tobacco industry are cautioning more restrictions could cause more people to turn to the illicit market for cigarettes.

As Sean Previl reports, some provinces are entertaining the idea but it's not something the federal government is considering yet.
