England is set to begin its new hotel quarantine rules that would require U.K. nationals coming from 33 "red-list" countries to quarantine in a government-approved hotel.

The restrictions will see people staying in the hotel for 10 days but could be extended should they test positive for COVID-19 during their stay. Travellers who don't comply could be hit with huge fines and the possibility of up to 10 years in jail.

Infection rates, hospitalizations and deaths are steadily declining in the U.K., but COVID-19 variants are posing an increased threat. Crystal Goomansingh reports.
