Coronavirus: COVID-19 peak 'is yet to come'

Scientists have confirmed that COVID-19 cases appear to be going down but that the mortality rate of the new UK variant is higher than expected.

The reason why the new variant spreads so quickly is yet to be identified but scientists predict the number of cases and deaths will rise before it can be controlled.

Sky correspondent Sam Coates asked the Prime Minister, Sir Patrick Vallance, the government's chief scientific adviser and Chris Whitty, England's chief medical officer, to give more details.
