Foreign individuals and business increasingly choose to leave Hong Kong. Strict regulations against COVID-19 adopted from mainland China have isolated the semi-autonomous territory from international traffic. Border closures have made traveling almost impossible for over two years.
Hong Kong has been a popular base for regional headquarters of foreign companies in the past, but its future as an Asian business hub now is in doubt. A survey released by the European Chamber of Commerce states that about half of the European companies in Hong Kong plan to relocate in the coming year.
