In Colombia, two prominent leaders from opposing sides of the decades-long conflict have, for the first time, appeared publicly before the Truth Commission.
At a gathering for victims, they apologised for atrocities committed during a civil war in which around 260,000 people were killed.
The Truth Commission was set up to let Colombians know what became of their loved ones and investigate and explain what happened during the armed conflict.
Al Jazeera’s Daniel Schweimler reports.
