Taiwanese voters have chosen William Lai as their President in a historic election, keeping the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in control for a third term, despite warnings from China over his pro-sovereignty views.

ताइवान की सत्तारूढ़ डेमोक्रेटिक प्रोग्रेसिव पार्टी (DTP) के नेता लाई चिंग ते (Lai Ching-te) ने शनिवार को राष्ट्रपति चुनाव जीत लिया है. लाई चिंग और उनकी पार्टी डीपीटी को चीन का कट्टर विरोधी माना जाता है. जिनपिंग को हमेशा खटकने वाले विलियम लाई अब ताइवान के अगले राष्ट्रपति होंगे. उन्होंने चीन के समर्थक उम्मीदवार को करारी शिकस्त दी है.
