After a rare public confrontation between Chinese president Xi Jinping and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the G20 summit, the Chinese foreign affairs ministry responded by saying it was "quite normal" and that it shouldn't be interpreted as Xi criticizing or blaming anyone.

Another reason the confrontation between Xi and Trudeau is so remarkable is it's a rare glimpse into Xi's personality from a leader who's normally highly choreographed.

The rare display of annoyance by the Chinese leader was likely sprung from reports that Trudeau had brought up "serious concerns" about alleged spying and Chinese "interference" in Canadian elections.
