Nicholas Bellemare, 25, of Coquitlam has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder with a firearm following the death of Ridge Meadows RCMP officer Const. Rick O’Brien on Friday.

O’Brien was fatally shot while police were conducting a search warrant at a home in Coquitlam in relation to a drug investigation.

Two other officers were injured and the suspect was shot in the incident, police said.
