Northern Syria has been badly affected by the earthquake that’s also claimed thousands of lives in neighbouring Turkey.
Syria has been at war for 12 years and areas that have been worst-hit by the earthquake are not under the control of its government.
It means that getting help with rescue efforts and aid to communities in Syria is particularly challenging.
