At age 32, Jaylee Thomas’ doctor diagnosed her with late-stage three colon cancer. She and her husband had been planning on a life-changing event, but not this one.

"I felt stuck. I felt frozen. It didn't make sense to me," Thomas told Global News.

Cancer diagnoses and deaths in people under age 50 surged in the past 20 years according to the British Medical Journal.
