Canadian grocery chain announces price freeze on thousands of items amid inflationary crisis

One of Canada's major grocery chains, Empire, the parent company of brands like Sobeys, Safeway, Longo’s, and IGA has announced a price freeze on thousands of items until January.

This comes in response to the demands of families whose livelihood is being challenged by the constantly increasing prices of food in Canada. The gesture is seen as the first step towards addressing food affordability in the country.

The federal government has also called on the "Big Five" grocery chains to take action to address this issue. While some industry observers question whether these measures will make a significant difference in inflation, others see it as a positive step towards easing the burden on Canadian consumers.
