Canadian federal political parties are subjected to virtually no rules or oversight when it comes to collecting personal information, and they'd like to keep it that way.

But British Columbia Information and Privacy Commissioner Michael McEvoy doesn't think the lack of regulations regarding the collection of private data is a good idea.

As David Akin reports, McEvoy is about to face off with the federal Liberals, Conservatives and NDPs in court over B.C.’s privacy laws.
